<p><b>صفحهٔ تازه</b></p><div>'''ابو سعيد سجزي'''، (حدود 330-415ق)، احمد بن محمد بن عبد الجليل سجزي، رياضيدان و ستاره شناس بزرگ ايراني، از مردم سيستان. در سيستان زاده شد. چند سالي را در خراسان و بيشتر عمر را در شيراز و دربار آل بويه گذراند. بسياري از تأليفات خود را به نام عضدالدوله، پادشاه مشهور اين خاندان نوشت. در حدود 415ق درگذشت.<sup>(1تا5)</sup> سجزي هندسهداني زبردست بود و براي نخستين بار مسئلة تثليث زاويه را از روشي به جز هندسة متحرك (كه توسط بنوموسي پيش نهاد شده بود) با استفاده از تقاطع يك دايره و يك هُذلولي متساوي القطرين حل كرد و نامش را هندسة ثابت گذاشت (البته اين روش را نميتوان يك حل هندسي دانست). همچنين به گفتة ابوريحان بيروني، سجزي نخستين كسي بود كه با ساخت اسطرلاب زورقي عملاً عقيده به حركت وضعي (و نه انتقالي) كرة زمين (به جاي چرخش روزانة آسمان كه قدما به آن باور داشتند) را به كار بست.<sup>(3، 4، 6)</sup> بسياري از رسائل متعدد وي به زبانهاي مختلف اروپايي ترجمه شده است.<sup>(1،2،7)</sup> <br />
