ايل منگور به دو بخش كوهستاننشين و جلگهنشين تقسيم ميشود.<sup>2</sup> بخش كوهستاننشين در سرزمينهاي كنار رود لاوين و روستاهاي اطراف پيرانشهر، مهاباد، سردشت و بوكان استان آذربايجان غربي به سر ميبرند. گروه جلگهنشين منگورها در روستاهاي شرق و غرب رود ژارآوا در عراق سكونت دارند.<sup>3</sup><br />

درگذشته اكثر مردم منگور كوچنده بودند. امروزه تقريباً همة آنها يكجانشين شدهاند و گروههاي كوچكي از آنها براي چراي دامهايشان به مناطق سردسير و گرمسير اطراف كوچ ميكنند.<sup>4</sup> ايل منگور از چند طايفه مانند شمع (شام)، زرين و... تشكيل شده است<sup>5</sup>. رؤساي ايل منگور از ميان خانوادهاي كوهستاننشين انتخاب ميشدند.<sup>6</sup> شمار جمعيت منگور در 1342ش 1500 خانوار برآورد شده است.<sup>7</sup> شمار كوچندگان اين ايل را در 1377ش 29 خانوار و 225 نفر تخمين زدهاند<sup>8</sup>. كشت توتون و گندم و جو، چغندر و حبوبات و ... و گلهداري و پرورشدام از عمدهترين مشاغل ايل منگور است. منگورها سني شافعي مذهبند.<sup>9</sup> <br />
