<p><b>صفحهٔ تازه</b></p><div>'''بني طُرُف'''، نام يكي از طوايف قديمي عربي زبان ايران و عراق وابسته به قبيلة طي. اين طايفه ظاهراً در آغاز قرن هشتم قمري از يمن يا عربستان به عراق مهاجرت كرده است. حدود سيصد سال پيش دستههايي از آنها به خوزستان آمدند و در اطراف خرمشهر در مجاورت طايفة بني ساله اسكان يافتند.<sup>1</sup> پس از مدتي به خفاجيه (سوسنگرد) كوچيدند و نامشان بر سرزميني كه به تصرف آنان در آمده بود، داده شد. نام ناحية بني طرف در 1314ش به دشت ميشان تغيير پيدا كرد و قلعه خفاجيه كه مركز شيوخ بني طرف بود سوسنگرد نام گرفت.<sup>2</sup> بني طرف مركب از دو شعبه به نامهاي بيت صيّاح و بيت سعيد است كه هر كدام از تيرههاي كوچكي تشكيل ميشوند.<sup>3</sup> مُنَيشه و مهاوي از بيت صياح و تيرههاي شَرهان زاير علي و حاج سبهان از بيت سعيد از معروفترين تيرههاي بني طرف است.<sup>4</sup> <br />

گروههايي از بني طرف در سالهاي اخير به طوايف ديگر خوزستان پيوستهاند.<sup>5</sup><br />

از جمعيت بنيطرف، در هنگام استقرار در ايران، اطلاعي در دست نيست اما در سالهاي آغازين قرن حاضر جمعيت آنها قريب 8000 خانوار بود كه در نواحي مختلف دشت ميشان (دشت آزادگان كنوني) سكونت داشتند.<sup>6</sup> <br />
