بچاقچيها در شرق و جنوب شرقي شهرستان سيرجان و در مناطق چهارگنبد، سوختهچالي، و بَلْوَرْد (محل اقامت خوانين ايل) زندگي ميكنند. كوچندگان اين ايل بين استانهاي كرمان و هرمزگان ييلاق و قشلاق ميكنند.<sup>(2)</sup> <br />

بچاقچيها از چند دهة پيش به تدريج يكجانشين شدهاند. از مهمترين طوايف ايل بچاقچي ميتوان به اَنكَلو (انگلو)، اَرَشلو، عباسلو، سوختهچالي و ... اشاره كرد.<sup>(3)</sup> <br />
<br />
ايل بچاقچي به چند طايفه، تيره تقسيم ميشود. سلسله مراتب قدرت نيز به ترتيب: ايلخان (رئيس ايل) كلانتر يا خان يا ريش سفيد (رييس طايفه) و كدخدا و ريش سفيد (رييس تيره) است.<sup>(4)</sup> كوچكترين واحد اقتصادي ايل ايشوم خوانده ميشود كه يك واحد دامدار است و از تركيب توافقي چند خانوار غير ثابت از تيرههاي مختلف خويشاوند يا غير خويشاوند، شكل ميگيرد.<sup>(5)</sup> جمعيت بچاقچيها را بين 200 تا 2000 خانوار تخمين زدهاند.<sup>(6)</sup> بچاقچيهاي كوچنده 461 خانوار و 2638 نفر گزارش شدهاند.<sup>(7)</sup> <br />
<br />
بچاقچيها به گلهداري و زراعت و باغداري مشغولند. زنان آنها نيز به بافتن قالي و گليم و جاجيم ميپردازند.<sup>(8)</sup> <br />
