شيخ فريدالدين عطار نيشابوري (627ق / 1229م)<sup>2</sup> اين كتاب را كه يگانه ترين اثر او در نثر به شمار ميرود، در 617ق / 1220م در دورة سلطان محمد خوارزمشاه (حك 596ـ617ق / 1200ـ1220م) نوشته است.<sup>3</sup> هر بخش اين تذكره با چند عبارت مسجّع آغاز ميشود و پس از اشارهاي به سرگذشت يكي از عرفا، حكاياتي در رفتار، كرامات و سخنان او ميآيد. نخستين بخش كتاب به امام محمدصادق (ع) و آخرين آن به حلّاج اختصاص دارد. مآخذ اصلي آن بنا بر گفتة مؤلف، سه كتاب شرح القلب، كشف الاسرار و معرفةالنفس است.<sup>4</sup><br />

شيوة نثر تذكرةالاولياء به طرز نثر قديم و داراي همان ويژگيها و اعتبار و سبك عهد ساماني است.<sup>5</sup> هر برگ از نثر دل آويز آن، ديوان درخشاني از زيباترين شعرهاي منثور جهان است. كه در فارسي و در عربي مانندي بر آن نميتوان يافت.<sup>6</sup> تذكرةالاولياء به عربي و سوئدي (استكهلم، 1931 ـ 1932 م) و خلاصهاي از آن به زبانهاي ديگر ترجمه شده است. طبع محققانهاي با مقدمة محمد قزويني و به كوشش نيكلسن [1](2 ج، ليدن، 1905 ـ 1907 م) و در 1321 و 1336ش از روي نيكلسن در تهران چاپ شده است.<sup>6</sup> <br />
