اما در مقابل پيشروي‌هاي چنگيزخان به هند عقب نشست و تا 622ق/ 1225م در هند به سر برد.&lt;sup&gt;2&lt;/sup&gt; در اين مدت فرمانروايان عراق عجم (غرب ايران) در قلمرو خوارزمشاهيان حكومت داشتند در حالي كه مغولان نيز به حدود همدان رسيده بودند.&lt;sup&gt;3&lt;/sup&gt; جلال‌الدين در اقدامي شجاعانه با سپاهي عازم ايران شد و غزنين، سيستان، كرمان و خوزستان را فتح كرد و از آن‌جا كه خليفة عباسي، الناصرلدين‌الله، به جاي كمك سپاهياني عليه او فرستاده بود&lt;sup&gt;4&lt;/sup&gt; او در حالي سپاهيان خليفه را شكست داد&lt;sup&gt;5&lt;/sup&gt;  كه قصد تسخير بغداد را نداشت.&lt;sup&gt;6&lt;/sup&gt; پس از آن به آذربايجان براي شكست دادن اتابك اوزبك رفت مشغول نبرد با گرجيان و سلاجقة روم شد و پيش از آن‌كه آمادگي لازم را براي مقابله با يورش مغولان به دست آورد در نبردي از آنان شكست خورد و سپاهيان او در حوالي دياربكر تار و مار شدند و از سرنوشت او نيز اطلاع دقيقي حاصل نشد.&lt;sup&gt;7&lt;/sup&gt; بنا بر برخي روايات، سرانجام اسير كردان شد و او را به طمع لباس و اسبش كشتند و پس از چندي فرمانروا مي‌آمد جنازة وي را به دست آورد و دستور دفن آن را داد.&lt;sup&gt;8&lt;/sup&gt; دو كتاب &#039;&#039;&#039;نفثةالمصدور&#039;&#039;&#039;
