سبكتكين در جنگهاي ميان تركان در آسياي مركزي اسير و در بردهخانة نخشب به آلپتكين يا البتكين مؤسس غزنويان فروخته شد.<sup>1</sup> در 350ق / ؟ م به همراه آلپتكين به غزنه رفت و با مرگ او به خدمت پسرش ابواسحاق ابراهيم در آمد. در دوران امراي غزنوي بلكاتكين و بوريتكين به دليل تواناييهاي فردي محبوبيت يافت و در 366ق / ؟ م به امارت غزنه رسيد.<sup>2</sup> بُست، قَصْدار را تصرف و ضميمة قلمرو خود كرد<sup>3</sup> و در جنگ با جَيپا پادشاه محلي هند او را مغلوب و خراجگذار خود كرد.<sup>4</sup> قدرتمندي او موجب شد امير نوح بن منصور ساماني، از او براي رهايي خود از امراي ترك كمك بگيرد، در نبردي كه روي داد سبكتكين پيروز شد و لقب ناصرالدين دريافت كرد.<sup>5</sup> او كه خود را تابع سامانيان ميدانست دستور داد بر سنگ قبرش لقب حاجبالاجل حك كنند<sup>6</sup> و پس از مرگش پسرش محمود سلسلة غزنويان را به اوج قدرت رساند. <br />
