<p><b>صفحهٔ تازه</b></p><div>علي بن ربن طبري، ابوالحسن، فرزند سهل، پزشك، داروشناس و متكلم ايراني سدة 3ق/9م. در خانوادهاي مسيحي و احتمالا در مرو زاده شد. پزشكي را نزد پدر آموخت و از آثار پزشكان يوناني نيز (احتمالا به واسطة ترجمههاي سرياني و نه عربي) بهره برد. در جواني به مازيار فرزند قارن، فرمانرواي طبرستان پيوست و پس از پايان كار او، به بغداد رفت و در روزگار معتصم، واثق و متوكل از نزديكان خلفاي بغداد بود. در حدود 240ق / ؟م به اسلام گرويد و كتاب ''الدين و الدوله في اثبات نبوه النبي محمد (ص)'' را در اثبات برتري اسلام بر ديگر اديان نوشت.<sup>1و2و3</sup> مهمترين اثر وي ''فردوس الحكمه''، يك دايره المعارف علوم طبيعي است كه در آن از حكمت طبيعي، تاريخ تكامل، پزشكي و روانپزشكي (طب الابدان و الانفس)، داروسازي، تغذيه، اقليم شناسي. كيهان شناسي و نجوم نيز سخن گفته شده است.<sup>4</sup> مطالب اين كتاب از ديدگاه دانش پزشكي ارزش چنداني ندارد و به هيچ روي به پاي آثار رازي<sup>*</sup>، اهوازي<sup>*</sup>، ابوالحسن طبري<sup>*</sup>، ابن سينا<sup>*</sup> و ديگر پزشكان برجستة ايراني نميرسد.<sup>5و6</sup> گرچه از تجربيات پزشكي خود و پدرش سخن ميگويد، اما چنين مينمايد كه تجربيات درماني چندان ارزشمندي نداشته است. علي بن ربن بيش از همه از پزشكان و فيلسوفان يوناني و در درجة نخست از ارسطو و اسكندر افروديسي، بقراط و جالينوس نقل قول ميكند. مطالبي كه وي دربارة پزشكي هندي آورده است، به نظر مايرهوف از ترجمة عربي آثار هندي برگرفته شده است.<sup>7</sup> <br />
