خلق عكس‌هايي با مفهوم ذهني خاص يا مفاهيمي كه با ظرافت، نمودهاي عينيِ جهان واقع را بنماياند. در اين شاخه از عكاسي، عكس به منظور كاربرد خاصي همچون گزارش، خبر، تبليغات و ... تهيه نمي‌شود. و خلق عكس‌ها براساس ديدگاه‌هاي شخصي عكاس و مباني بيان هنري صورت مي‌گيرد. <br /> <br /> تنوع ديدگاه‌هاي شخصي در اين نوع عكاسي، بسيار زياد است و بر اساس سبك‌ها و مكتب‌هاي گوناگون در هنرهاي تجسمي، داراي ويژگي‌هاي مشتركي است.<br /> <br /> در ايران، اين شاخه از عكاسي، در سال‌هاي مياني سلطنت ناصرالدين شاه، توسط برخي از عكاسان به صورتي ناخود آگاه تجربه شده و در سال‌هاي بعد نيز به همين شكل ادامه يافت.&lt;sup&gt;1&lt;/sup&gt;<br /> <br /> نخستين حركت‌هاي آگاهانه در زمينة عكاسي هنري، از اوايل دهة 1340ش توسط چند تن از عكاسان در ايران انجام شد.<br /> <br /> تأسيس تالار ايران كه بعدها به تالار قندريز معروف شد در 1343ش يكي از جريان سازترين نهادهاي مدني هنري ايران بود كه معرفي عكاسي هنري را در كنار معرفي ساير جريانات پيشرو هنرهاي تجسمي در ايران در سرلوحة كار خود قرار داده بود.&lt;sup&gt;2&lt;/sup&gt; <br /> <br /> معرفي برخي از عكاسان پيشرو در زمينة عكاسي هنري نيز به تدريج در برخي روزنامه‌ها و سپس در نشريات تخصصي عكاسي كمي پيش از دهة 1350ش آغاز شد و محلي شد براي معرفي و ارائة آثار عكاسان پيشگام در زمينة هنر.&lt;sup&gt;3&lt;/sup&gt;
