ميرزا حبيب شيرازي متخلص به حبيب و قاآني از شاعران عهد خاقان و قسمتي از دوران ناصري بود. در شيراز به دنيا آمد.<sup>1</sup> پدرش ميرزا محمدعلي متخلص به گلشن از طايفة زنگنه بود.<sup>2</sup> در هفت سالگي به مكتب رفت و در 11 سالگي پدرش را از دست داد. پس از آن در مدرسة بابلة شيراز به تحصيل پرداخت. مدتي نيز در اصفهان رياضي و معارف اسلامي آموخت.<sup>3</sup> سپس نزد حسنعلي ميرزا شجاع السلطنه والي خراسان رفت و تخلص قاآني را براي خود از نام پسر او، اوكتاي قاآن برگزيد.<sup>4</sup> در 1242ق / 1826م همراه حسنعلي ميرزا رهسپار كرمان و يزد شد. پس از آن به ترتيب به دربار فتحعليشاه، محمدشاه و ناصرالدين شاه پيوست و از آنان نوازش ديد. سرانجام با بيماري ماليخوليا درگذشت.<sup>5</sup> قاآني در قصيده از شاعران سبك خراساني بود و در مسمط نيز از منوچهري پيروي ميكرد.<sup>6</sup> زبانهاي عربي و تركي را نيز به خوبي ميدانست و با فقه، اصول، حكمت، كلام، تفسير، حديث، تاريخ و موسيقي كاملاً آشنا بود.<sup>7</sup> ''ديوان اشعار'' او شامل حدود 22000 بيت و سرشار از مدايح شاه، وزير و بزرگان است؛<sup>8</sup> ''پريشان''؛ كه نثري آميخته به نظم دارد و به شيوة ''گلستان سعدي'' و به نام محمدشاه قاجار در تهران تأليف شده؛<sup>9</sup> مقدمه بر ''ديوان فريدون ميرزا قاجا''ر؛ ''رساله در علم شانه بيني''؛ ''رساله در هندسة جديد'' و چندين مقالة مختلف از آثار او هستند.<sup>10</sup> <br />
