ميرزا ابوالقاسم خان متخلص به لاهوتي فرزند ميرزا احمد الهامي در [[کرمانشاه|كرمانشاه]] به دنيا آمد.<sup>1</sup> پدرش كشاورزي ساده، اما اهل شعر و ادب و آزاديخواه بود. لاهوتي پس از تحصيل علوم ديني و آشنايي با ادبيات و شعر و محيط ادبي كرمانشاه به توصية اقوامش در 1322ق / 1913م براي ادامة تحصيل به [[استان تهران|تهران]] آمد.<sup>2</sup> در 18 سالگي نخستين غزل وي كه لحني آزاديخواهانه داشت، در روزنامة ''حَبلالمتين''<sup>*</sup> كلكته به چاپ رسيد و شهرتي براي او به ارمغان آورد. در 1323ق / 1905م در تهران به نشر و پخش شبنامه و اوراق سياسي پرداخت.<sup>3</sup> در تهران به استخدام ادارة ژاندارمري درآمد. در 1331ق/ 1913م به سبب شايستگي درجة سلطاني گرفت.<sup>4</sup> در 1333ق پس از تيرباران يكي از زيردستانش به اتهام خبرچيني، دستگير شد. اما از زندان گريخت و به عثماني (تركيه)رفت.<sup>5</sup> پس از سه سال از استانبول به كرمانشاه بازگشت و روزنامة ''بيستون'' را چاپ كرد. بعد از مدتي دوباره به تركيه رفت و مجلة ''پارس'' را به دو زبان فارسي و فرانسه انتشار داد.<sup>6</sup> در همين سفر بود كه كمونيستها پيوست. پس از پايان جنگ جهاني اول بار ديگر به ايران آمد و پس از رويدادهايي به قفقاز گريخت و بعد به تاجيكستان رفت و بيشتر عمر خود را در آنجا گذراند. سرانجام هم در مسكو درگذشت.<sup>7</sup> <br />
