<br /> <br /> نخستين بار در نمايشنامه‌ي «روياي فرزند» در سالن مدرسه‌ي صنعتي كه در آن تحصيل مي‌كرد به ايفاي نقش پرداخت.&lt;sup&gt;3&lt;/sup&gt; <br /> <br /> او شاگرد اول دوره‌ي سوم هنرستان هنرپيشگي بود. عبدالحسين نوشين او را از ميان ده‌ها هنرپيشه انتخاب كرد و به تربيتش همت گماشت.&lt;sup&gt;4&lt;/sup&gt;     <br /> <br /> پس از افتتاح تماشاخانه تهران، جعفري به گروه نمايشي اين تماشاخانه پيوست و در نمايشنامه‌هايي مانند «محمدعلي بيك» (نويسنده و كارگردان علي اصغر گرمسيري)، «عروسك پشت پرده»، «په‌پو» (نوشته‌ي سوندوگيان و به كارگرداني ناپلئون سروري)&lt;sup&gt;5&lt;/sup&gt;، تورانداخت، رومئووژوليت و چند نمايش ديگر به ايفاي نقش پرداخت. پس از گشايش تئاتر فرهنگ&lt;sup&gt;*&lt;/sup&gt; و بعد تئاتر فردوسي&lt;sup&gt;*&lt;/sup&gt; به جمع ياران نوشين پيوست و در نمايش‌هاي «وُلپن»، «براي شرف» در تئاتر فرهنگ&lt;sup&gt;6&lt;/sup&gt; و «چراغ گاز» در تئاتر فردوسي بازي كرد و خوش درخشيد وشهرت فراوان يافت.&lt;sup&gt;7&lt;/sup&gt; پس از تعطيل تئاتر فردوسي و بعد افتتاح تماشاخانة سعدي، جعفري در 1329ش به آنجا رفت و در نمايش‌هايي چند مانند «بادبزن خانم ويندرمير»، «چراغ گاز»، «شنل قرمز» و ... به ايفاي نقش پرداخت.&lt;sup&gt;8&lt;/sup&gt; با كودتاي 28 مرداد 1332 و به آتش كشيده شدن تماشاخانة سعدي، جعفري در خانه‌ي شاهين سركيسيان مخفي شد.&lt;sup&gt;9&lt;/sup&gt; در 1333ش جعفري پس از دو سال خاموشي، گروهي به نام «گروه جعفري» تأسيس كرد و نمايش‌هاي زيادي مانند: «آخرين لحظه»، «پيچ خطرناك»، «آتش زير خاكستر»&lt;sup&gt;10&lt;/sup&gt; و ... به روي صحنه آورد. <br /> <br /> جعفري در 1346ش به استخدام اداره‌ي تئاتر در آمد و از آن سال به بعد نمايشنامه‌هاي بسياري مانند «پروار بندان»، «خسيس» و «مونسترا» را به روي صحنه آورد و در آنها بازي كرد. بازي در نمايش «مستنطق» با برداشتي تازه در 1359ش آخرين حضور او در صحنه‌هاي نمايش در ايران بود. او سه شنبه 8 مهرماه 1365  در گذشت.&lt;sup&gt;11&lt;/sup&gt;
