<p><b>صفحهٔ تازه</b></p><div>'''محمدزمان،''' (نقاش، تصويرگر، و قلمدان نگار ايراني، محتملاً 1549ق / 1639 ـ محتملاً 1120ق /1708) يكي از برجستهترين نمايندگان فرنگيسازي در دوران صفوي است كه در آثارش تلفيقي ميان هنر اروپايي و هنر ايراني به وجود آورد. او فرزند حاج يوسف قمي بود. برخي از پژوهشگران او را يكي از نخستين تحصيل كردگان اروپا ميداند، كه به فرمان شاه عباس دوم صفوي براي هنرآموزي به ايتاليا فرستاده شد و در آنجا تغيير مذهب داد و به دين مسيحيت گرويد. پس از بازگشت به ايران، از ترس روحانيان و شاه، تغيير مذهب خود را بروز نداد و به دربار امپراتور گوركاني هند پناهنده شد و بعد از مدتي دوباره به ايران بازگشت و به عنوان نقاش دربار مشغول به كار شد. گروه ديگري از پژوهشگران، معتقد هستند كه او هرگز از ايران خارج نشده و دين خود را نيز تغيير نداده است، بلكه در قم و اصفهان آموزش ديده و شاگردي استاداني چون معين مصور<sup>*</sup>و شيخ عباسي<sup>*</sup> را كرده است. احتمالاً ارتباط با نقاشان اروپايي مقيم اصفهان، بررسي و تعمق در آثار اروپايي و هندي و رونگاري از آنها، باعث گرايش او به شگردهاي ژرفنمايي و برجستهنمايي اروپايي شده است. و به دليل همين آموزش غير آكادميك و شهودي در برخي از موارد ژرفنماييهاي او چندان بر اساس اصول عملي نيست.<br />

از طرف ديگر، سكونت ارمنيان در جلفاي نو، فعاليت اروپائيان در اصفهان، پذيرش مبلغان مسيحي از سوي شاه سليمان صفوي، و رواج نمونههاي نقاشي اروپايي و نقاشي گوركاني، علت انتخاب موضوعات غربي و مسيحي در آثار مرقوم محمدزمان است.<br />

او به طرزي دلخواه با برداشتي سطحي از دستاوردهاي هنرمندان دورة رنسانس بهره ميگيرد و از همين رو، آثارش فاقد اصول و قواعد صحيح پرسپكتيو، ژرفنمايي جوي، تنظيم نور و سايه و كالبدشناسياند. علاوه بر اين در مواردي چون برخي چهرهها، جامگان، گياهان و پرندگان در حال پرواز، تأثيرات كلي از نقاشي گوركاني در كارهاي محمدزمان ميتوان تشخيص داد.<br />

او آثارش را با عباراتي چون «محمدزمان»؛ «يا صاحب زمان»؛ «زمان» رقم ميزد. به استناد قلمداني كه رقم «يا صاحب زمان» مورخ (1659/1070ق) از او به جاي مانده است، ميتوان او را نخستين قلمدان نگار ايراني دانست.<br />

علائم مشخص آثار او را ميتوان در ويژگيهايي چون؛ ابرهاي پنبهيي، درخت شكسته، بوستة تركدار، درختان كهنسال، تپههاي سنگي دانست.<br />

او علاوه بر تعداد زيادي قلمدان، مجالس آبرنگي سه تصوير براي نسخه تهماسبي<sup>*</sup> [محفوظ در كتابخانة بريتانيا] (1086ق/ 1675م). مجالس پيكار بهرام گور و اژدها، فتنة گاو بر دوش در برابر بهرامگور، بزم بهرامگور با شاهزاده خانم هندي ـ خلق كرد.<br />

از جمله آثار او: ونوس و آمور (1087ق/ 1675م)، آبرنگ گل زنبق (1082ق/ 1671)، پيرزن و سلطان سنجر (1675م /1086ق). قلمدان با طرح منظره و شكارچيان (1109ق/ 1697م).<br />
