<p><b>صفحهٔ تازه</b></p><div>'''مظفرالدين شاه''' چهارمين پسر ناصرالدين شاه و پنجمين پادشاه قاجار(حك1313-1324ق / ؟م). مادرش شكوهالسلطنه دختر فتحالله ميرزا شعاع السلطنه پسر فتحعليشاه بود. در هفت سالگي به «صاحب اختياري» آذربايجان فرستاده شد و عزيزخان سردار را به پيشكاري او مأمور ساختند. يك سال بعد در 1278ق / ؟م به منصب وليعهدي انتخاب گرديد.<sup>1</sup> ناصرالدين شاه كوشيد بهترين افراد را براي تعليم و تربيت وي انتخاب كند ولي مظفرالدين ميرزا نسبت به كسب علوم بيتفاوت بود. 36 سال به عنوان وليعهد در آذربايجان حكومت كرد و اين مدت افراد سست عنصر و ضعيفالنفس اطراف او را گرفتند و ايام وليعهدي او به بيهودگي و سرگرميهاي موهن سپري شد.<sup>2</sup> رقيب عمدة او براي سلطنت ظلالسلطان بود كه به شيوههاي مختلف كوشيد وي را از وليعهدي خلع كند ولي نتوانست.<sup>3</sup> با قتل ناصرالدين شاه توسط ميرزا رضاي كرماني در ذيالقعدة 1313ق / ؟م در تبريز به تخت سلطنت جلوس كرد و طي حكمي امينالسلطان را به صدارت انتخاب كرد و لقب اتابك اعظم به او داد و با خدم و حشم راهي تهران شد و بر تخت نشست. در دوران پادشاهي سفرهايي به خارج از كشور داشت كه موجب مقروض شدن ايران شد. براي سفر او به اروپا، در 1318، 5/22 ميليون منات طلا (واحد پول روسيه) وام از روسيه در ازاي گرو دادن گمركات شمال به مدت 75 سال اخذ شد . نتيجة اين سفر ديدار شاه از روسيه، فرانسه و عثماني بود.<br />

امينالسلطان، براي سفر دوم شاه (1320ق / ؟م)، ده ميليون منات طلا در ازاي اينكه نرخ گمركات به نفع روسيه كاهش يابد از بانك استقراضي وام گرفت<sup>4</sup> كه نتيجة آن ديدار از ايتاليا، سوئيس، آلمان، اتريش، بلژيك، فرانسه و انگليس بود. در سفر سوم (1323ق / ؟م) عينالدوله صدراعظم، از انگلستان وام گرفت،<sup>5</sup> اين در حالي بود كه زمينههاي بروز نهضت مشروطيت فراهم آمده بود و زماني كه شاه در خارج بود همه جاي ايران را جنبشهاي آزاديخواهي و تلاش براي تأسيس «دارالشورا» و «عدالتخانه» در بر گرفته بود كه در نتيجه، فرمان مشروطيت توسط مظفرالدين شاه در 14 جماديالثاني 1324ق (14 مرداد 1285ش) به امضاء رسيد و او چندي بعد درگذشت.<br />
