مولانا محمد حسين نيشابوري متخلص به نظيري را برخي از تذكرهنويسان از جوين دانستهاند، اما وي در نيشابور به دنيا آمد. از ابتداي جواني در كنار تجارت، دانش و ادب آموخت و به شاعري روي آورد.<sup>1</sup> چون آوازة او از خراسان به شهرهاي عراق ِعجم رسيد، به آن ديار سفر كرد و مدتي در كاشان سكنا گزيد. در آن شهر با شاعراني نظير حاتم، فهمي، مقصود و ديگران آشنا شد و با آنان به معاشرت، صحبت و مشاعره پرداخت.<sup>2</sup> در 991 / 992 / 993 ق / ؟م به قصد ديدار ميرزا عبدالرحيم خان ملقب به خانخانان (د 1036ق/ 1626م) به هندوستان رفت و در آگره به دستگاه او پيوست و قصيدهاي در ستايش او سرود و توسط او به دربار جلالالدين اكبر تيموري (حك 963 ـ 1014ق / 1555 ـ 1605م) راه يافت و آن پادشاه را مدح گفت.<sup>3</sup> در حـ 1002ق / 1593م رهسپار مكه شد و پس از اداي مناسك حج به احمدآباد گجرات رفت.<sup>4</sup> در 1004ق / 1595م به دكن سفر كرد. در مندو نزد شيخ غوثي، عربي و ديني خواند. تفسير و حديث را نيز از حسين جواهري فراگرفت.<sup>5</sup> بعدها به دربار شاهزاده مراد و جهانگير پادشاه (حك ـ ق / ـ م) راه يافت و قصايدي در ستايش آنان سرود. سرانجام در احمدآباد گجرات در گذشت.<sup>6</sup> از وي ديوان شعري شامل قصيده، تركيب بند، غزل، قطعه و رباعي به يادگار ماند كه مجموع ابيات آن بالغ بر 10000 بيت است.<sup>7</sup> اشعار اين شاعر ممتاز سبك هندي چه در حيات وي و چه پس از مرگش همواره با توجه شاعران ديگر روبهرو بوده است.<sup>8</sup> او غالباً از طريق استعاره يا تمثيل به بيان احساساتش ميپرداخت و در توصيف اينگونه حالات و نيز در به كار بردن الفاظ و تعبيرات مأخوذ از زبان محاوره استعداد داشت.<sup>9</sup> ''كليات'' و ''غزليات'' وي بارها در پاكستان و هند و يكبار در تهران (1340 ش) به چاپ رسيده است.<sup>10</sup> <br />
