شهابالدين نورالدين محمد زيدري نَسَوي (زنده در 639ق) اين رساله را ميان 632ـ 637ق / 1235-1239م هنگام اقامت در ميافارقين براي يكي از بزرگان نوشت.<sup>2</sup> وي از مردم خرندز از توابع زيدرونسا و صاحب ديوان انشا و وقايعنگار دربار جلالالدين محمد خوارزمشاه مشهور به منكبرني بود. در بسياري از سفرها و لشكركشيهاي جلالالدين شركت داشت.<sup>3</sup> در اواخر به مقام وزارت رسيد و پس از آن به ميافارقين رفت و در پناه حاكم آنجا ملك مظفر قرار گرفت.<sup>4</sup><br />

''نفثةالمصدور'' از شاهكارهاي بديع نثر فني و از نمونههاي عالي نثر مصنوع، مزيّن و منشيانه در نيمة نخست سدة 7ق است. در جاي جاي آن نشانههايي از نثر مرسل و سادة دورههاي ساماني و غزنوي همراه با لغات و تركيبات پارسي قديم ديده ميشود.<sup>5</sup><br />

اثر ديگر وي، ''سيرة جلالالدين منكبرني'' به عربي بود كه كمي پس از تأليف به فارسي برگردانيده شد. اينكتاب بعدها توسط مجتبي مينوي تصحيح و به چاپ رسيد.<sup>6</sup> اميرحسن يزدگردي نيز در 1343ش ''نفثةالمصدور'' را تصحيح و منتشر كرده است. <br />
