در شهر "اكن"، در غرب ارمنستان، كه در آن زمان در قلمرو كشور عثماني بود، به دنيا آمد.<sup>1</sup> تحصيلات دبيرستاني را در استانبول و عاليه را در ونيز ايتاليا به اتمام رساند.<sup>2</sup> پس از آمدن به ايران در بندرانزلي ساكن شد؛ در 1290ش مدير مدرسة «رشديه» انزلي شد؛ بعد به رشت رفت و در «مدرسة ارامنه» به تدريس زبان فرانسه پرداخت.<sup>3</sup><br />

يقيكيان تحت تأثير «نهضت جنگل» و پس از اشغال گيلان توسط «ارتش سرخ» به نگارش نمايشنامه پرداخت.<sup>4</sup><br />

شعبة زنان فرقة «سوسيال دموكرات هچاكيان» يكي از نمايشنامههاي «گريگور يقيكيان» بنام «فاجعه» يا «راه خوني» را در تاريخ يكشنبه پنجم ماه رجب 1329ق در پارك مسعوديه، خانة ظلالسلطان به نمايش گذاشت.<sup>5</sup> در 1300ش، يقيكيان به جمعيت «اكتورال آزاد ايران» در شهر رشت كه هدف آن كمك به پيشرفت فرهنگ و مؤسسات فرهنگي و هنري بود پيوست.<sup>6</sup><br />

در 1303ش، نمايشنامة «جنگ مشرق و مغرب» يا «داريوش سوم» (كدمانس) را نوشت كه با كمك ميرزا احمد خان دبيري آن را به فارسي ترجمه؛ و در همان سال آن را در رشت بر روي صحنه برد.<sup>7</sup><br />

نمايشنامة «انوشيروان عادل و مزدك» او را «جهانگير سرتيپپور» به فارسي ترجمه كرد كه با همكاري «جمعيت اكتورال آزاد» و به كارگرداني خود يقيكيان در شهر رشت بر روي صحنه آمد.<sup>8</sup><br />
