<p><b>صفحهٔ تازه</b></p><div>'''يحيي بن ابي منصور'''، بزيست پسر فيروزان(درگذشت پس از 215ق/830م) از ستاره شناسان بنام ايراني و زادة طبرستان بود كه پس از اسلام آوردن، اين نام عربي را كه كم و بيش ترجمة نام اصلي وي بود برگزيد.<sup>1</sup> پدرش فيروزان از منجمان دربار منصور عباسي بود.<sup>2و3</sup> بزيست نخست فضل بن سهل، وزير ايراني مأمون را خدمت ميكرد. اما پس از كشته شدن وي به سرپرستي ستاره شناسان دربار مأمون رسيد.<sup>4</sup> در 213ق / ؟م به فرمان مأمون در مقام رهبري چند ستاره شناس برجسته ايراني، مأمور شد تا در رصدخانة شماسيه بغداد به رصد خورشيد و ديگر ستارگان بپردازد و نتايج اين كار را با نتايج بطلميوس بسنجد. گروه ديگري نيز همزمان در دمشق مشغول همين كار بودند. زيجهايي كه بدين ترتيب فراهم آمد، عناويني چون ممتحن، مأموني و دمشقي يافت. از اين ميان پنج جدول نام يحيي بن ابي منصور را بر خود دارد.<sup>5و6و7</sup> <br />
